Kids Classes

Children in Martial Arts experience:

  • A increased sense of responsibility,

  • A decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks,

  • A higher sense of self-esteem.

  • A great sense of accomplishment that improves the way they feel about themselves.

It’s not just about self defense, our parents often report an improvement in academic performance, and behavior at home.

Our Philosophy

Regardless of age or gender, anyone can practice martial arts. Fitness is much more than lifting weights or running on a treadmill. If you are ready to step up your fitness, Martial Arts is your answer. Martial Arts uses discipline and art to implement a lifestyle that can be enjoyed by all, regardless of how much weight you can lift or how many miles you can run.

We focus on the technical prowess as well as character development and improving our students’ lives by teaching them life lessons that will stay with them long after they leave mat.

Traditional Martial Arts School?

Meaning we do not put money first. Our philosophy follows the practice of putting our students first, and we are proud of our graduating black belts as they implement the teachings of Martial Arts into their daily lives towards further success.

Founded in the 1970s in North Hollywood by Grand Master Sam Deratani who started his Martial Arts career at age 13 and holds a sixth degree black belt with over 40 years of experience in learning and teaching Martial Arts.

Master Sam mastered Tae Kwon Do and served as a national coach at the age of twenty. He taught the art throughout his college years as a self-defense course within the college curriculum.

In 2005 Master Sam and his family of black belts moved Flying Kick to Northridge, California where it currently resides today; emphasizing traditional arts as well as modern day self-defense.

Testimonials

My son Anthony not only learned self-defense but the confidence, the morals that you can see playing out in your child’s life are nothing more than priceless. I could see the difference immediately in the effort he puts forth towards school, family, and the important things in life.
— EDWARD MALONEY
This place, not only teaches you self defense, but they concentrate on development of the kids and adults. They build CHAMPIONS! Master Sam’s wisdom is way beyond his years. I have learned a lot from this Master. I will not take my child anywhere else to learn martial arts!
— ROBERT VARELA
This dojo is like my second home away from home, or like another family who motivates me, inspires me, and believes in me. TaeKwonDo has taught me control, perseverance, respect, and responsibility. I am proud to wear a black belt.
